For years we've been watching celebrities, mostly in sunnier climes, trotting around in a variety of lambskin, cow suede and micro-fibre boots. This style of boot has been touted as the most comfortable form of footwear on the planet...and it would have to be...to explain wearing a shearling lined "winter" boot in the middle of summer.
I'm no doctor - but it occurred to me that the heat was getting to these people. Having said that, I hate to judge. I try to live by the "walk a mile in their shoes" philosophy before ascribing an adjective such as "crazy" to an entire group of people. It's only fair.
So, when the folks from DAWGS Canada recently asked me if I'd like to review their boots, I naturally jumped at the chance.

In the name of research, I chose to review the DAWGS 9" Cow Suede Flat Heel Boot, the classic silhouete, a popular style, and probably the most versitile by celebrity fashion standards.
DAWGS 9" Cow Suede Flat Heel Boot
DAWGS describes the 9" Cow Suede Flat Heel Boots as "Extreme weather comfort boots with a durable design". They have a cow suede upper, shearling covered insole with shearling lining and a slip resistant rubber outsole.
I picked up a pair three weeks ago, just in time for the first flurries of snow to hit the ground. I wouldn't be wearing these boots to the beach. This is Saskatchewan, boots have to earn their keep.
Saskatoon Winter - Meewasin Trail
In first weeks of November '11 we've seen light snow, heavy snow, slushy snow, mild temperatures and extreme cold. I walk to and from work every day and my Sheep DAWGS performed extremely well in all of these conditions. They are comfortable, light-weight and cozy, slip resistant and easy to clean when properly* treated. *(I sprayed mine twice with an "All- Proctector Spray" for leather before wearing).
I've been wearing the boots for a little over two weeks now, and I totally get it. They are, by far, the coziest, most comfortable winter boots I've ever worn. In fact, while I'm wearing my Sheep DAWGS, I can't stop thinking about how cozy and comfortable they are.
PRICE: The 9" Cow Suede Flat Heel Sheep DAWGS are $90.00 CAD - a great price for a high quality winter boot and very resonable compared to similar quality brands.
NOTES: This style tends to run a size large. DAWGS recommends ordering a size smaller from your typical shoe size. This is VERY good advice. I normally wear a size 10 and I found they fit perfectly when I tried them on in the store. The 9 was a little tight so, I went with the 10. After a few wears the shearling lining does compress a little and the boots losen up. (I wish I had gotten the 9).
There are a lot of products out there that are similar in style, so why buy Sheep DAWGS? Here's a great reason: This is a Canadian Company, based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They have an excellent reputation for designing, manufacturing and distributing quality comfort footwear. And the Sheep DAWGS line is no exception. They come in a variety of colours and materials (cow suede, lambskin, microfibre, knit).
In addition to the Sheep DAWGS line, DAWGS offers a variety of fashion boot styles for women. Check them all out online HERE. Follow Dawgs Retail on Facebook for product updates and great contests and a 10% Discount on ALL purchases!
CONCLUSION: The celebs aren't crazy...they were on to something all along. (But I still won't be wearing them to the beach - Sorry Cameron).
